Step 1: Site Approval Process

Application

• The site is initiated with a complete application providing all the information necessary for railroad personnel to locate the site and make an informed decision on it’s suitability.
  
• A photo of the base area of the proposed site is included showing the rail bed in the photo.
  
• A copy of the track chart is also attached if available.

Cross Section

• The Application is accompanied by a Cross Section accurately depicting the proposed clearances and dimensions of the structure in relation to the rail corridor.

• Horizontal and vertical clearances are given from the pole as well as the actual sign face.

Railroad Review

• Joint field visits with railroad personnel if any additional information to satisfy railroad’s requirements.
